Anapurna Circuit

The Annapurna Circuit, a famous trekking route in central Nepal, stretches 160–230 km (100–145 mi) around the Annapurna Massif. It crosses two river valleys and reaches its peak elevation at Thorung La pass (5416 m/17,769 ft). Trekkers typically follow the path anticlockwise to ensure safer altitude acclimatization.

The trek offers stunning views of iconic peaks such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Manaslu, along with diverse terrains ranging from tropical rice fields to alpine regions. Starting at Besisahar or Bhulbhule and ending at Kali Gandaki Gorge, the journey takes about 15–20 days.

Culturally, the trek transitions from Hindu villages in the lower elevations to Tibetan traditions in Manang Valley and lower Mustang. Although road developments have shortened parts of the trail, mountain biking has grown in popularity along the modified routes.

For those seeking additional adventures, the trek can be extended to Annapurna Base Camp or include alternative sections like Ghorepani to Ghandruk. Renowned for its variety of climates, dramatic landscapes, and cultural richness, the Annapurna Circuit remains a top global trekking destination.
