Carstenz Pyramid, also known as Puncak Jaya, is a striking mountain located in Papua, Indonesia. What sets this peak apart is its unique and challenging morphology. Rising to an impressive 4,884 masl (16,024 feet), Carstenz Pyramid is crowned with a snow-capped summit, which is a rare sight in equatorial regions. Carstensz Pyramid Expedition Itinerary
Explore, Climb
Our carefully designed itinerary ensures you’re fully prepared for the unique challenges of Carstensz Pyramid while also providing ample time for acclimatization and contingencies.
Day 1: Arrival in Bali/Jakarta
- Arrival at the airport, where our team warmly welcomes you.
- Transfer to your hotel for check-in and rest.
Day 2: Flight to Timika (Night Flight)
- Welcome early dinner and expedition briefing before heading to Airport
- Catch a night flight from Jakarta or Bali to Timika, the gateway to Papua.
Day 3: Arrival in Timika
- Arrival in Timika and transfer to your hotel. Rest
- Final Gear check and preparation.
- Afternoon: Safety briefing for the helicopter flight to Base Camp.
Day 4: Flight to Base Camp (Yellow Valley)
- Take a helicopter flight to Base Camp.
- Spend the day acclimatizing and exploring the surrounding trails.
Day 5: Acclimatization and Climbing Familiarization
- Acclimatization continues with familiarization climbs up to the second terrace, preparing you for summit day.
Day 6: Summit Day
- Begin your summit attempt early in the morning.
- Conquer the challenging limestone walls and enjoy the breathtaking views from the top of Oceania’s highest peak, standing at 4,884 meters.
- Return to Base Camp to celebrate your achievement.
Day 7: Return to Timika
- Take a helicopter flight back to Timika.
- Check in to the hotel for a well-earned shower and rest.
- If time permits, catch a flight to Bali or Jakarta.
Day 8: Excursion Day
- Enjoy a city tour of Bali/Jakarta, exploring local culture and landmarks.
Days 9–12: Contingency Days
- These extra days are reserved for unforeseen delays, particularly due to weather conditions, which can significantly impact helicopter flights and summit attempts.
Important Notes
- The itinerary is subject to change depending on weather conditions and operational requirements.
- Additional days in Timika or Bali/Jakarta can be arranged upon request.
